Spring blooms in the Blue Mountains

 

Hazelbrook
Small town now part of the larger urban sprawl of Leura and Katoomba
Hazelbrook is located 674 m above sea level and 89 km from Sydney. Like all the towns and villages in the Blue Mountains it developed after the arrival of the railway line in the 1860s and with the growing interest in the rural retreat holidays in the 1880s.

Hazelbrook has been overwhelmed by the more important attractions at Leura, Katoomba and beyond.

Things to see:  

Walking Tracks and Waterfalls
At the eastern end of Hazelbrook, Mount View Rd heads north-east to the start of a walking track which leads into Mabel Falls Reserve. It joins up with a network of tracks which also take in Hazel Falls and Edith Falls. This network can also be joined from the end of Clearview Pde.

Further west is an area of Blue Mountains National Park known as The Amphitheatre. It contains Lyrebird Falls, Lena Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Oakland Falls, Glow Worm Nook Falls and Burgess Falls and access is via Oaklands Rd.

On the southern side of the highway is the railway line and Railway Pde runs parallel to the track. Terrace Falls Rd runs south off Railway Pde to the start of a walking track which leads to Victor Falls,
